Hello! My name is Mike Cope and I'm a cartoonist & artist educator from Ancaster, Ontario, Canada.
My work has been published locally, nationally and internationally in books, magazines, newspapers, and websites. As a freelancer artist, I've created humorous cartoons, comics, illustrations, storyboards, and animations for a variety of client projects, ranging from commercial adverting to educational entertainment. I'm always interested in working on new projects that are fun and engaging, especially for kids!
I also love inspiring others to draw and be creative...
Since 1996, I've facilitated hundreds of workshops to thousands of students at libraries, schools, community centres, and events. I currently teach after-school and evening art classes in Stop Motion (for Ages 7+) and Cartoon Animation (for Ages 11+) at the Dundas Valley School of Art.
I'm a proud member of the National Cartoonists Society (NCS), the Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers (CANSCAIP), the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), and I'm an alumnus of McMaster University (Combined Honours BA Anthropology & Multimedia), Sheridan College (Art Fundamentals Certificate + 2 Years Classical Animation), and Brock University (Technological Education).
